Mabini Dialogue: Canada and the Indo-Pacific

The Foreign Service Institute (FSI) is pleased to invite you and your staff to the Mabini Dialogue on “Canada and the Indo-Pacific” to be held on Thursday, 13 May 2021, 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. (Manila Time) via Google Meet. This event is being organized in partnership with the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa.

This Mabini Dialogue will discuss the Indo-Pacific initiative vis-a vis the interests of Canada and the future of Canadian engagement with the Asia Pacific region at large, and with the Philippines in particular. Attached is the poster of the event for your reference.

The guest speaker will be Mr. Jonathan Berkshire Miller, a Senior Fellow from the Ottawa-based think tank, MacDonald Laurier Institute. Mr. Miller is an international affairs professional with expertise in security, defense, intelligence and geo-economic issues in the Indo-Pacific. He is also the Director and Co-Founder of the Council on International Policy, as well as a Senior Fellow on the Japan Institute of International Affairs, and Asian Forum Japan.

The discussant, Dr. Aaron Jed Rabena, is a Research Fellow at the Asia Pacific Pathways to Progress (APPFI). He is also a consultant and lecturer on topics such as strategic studies, Asian geopolitics and multilateral politics.
